Cytoskeleton / Immortality

Cytoskeleton / Immortality

Cytoskeleton (derived from the Greek words kytos which means container, box and the word skeletos which is the group of bones of an animal body).

Is a dynamic and sensitive intracellular proteinecous matrix that constantly reshapes itself in response to extra-cellular forces, supports cell shape and function, gives mechanical resistance to deformation. The matrix is composed from proteins which are capable of rapid assembly or disassembly dependent on the requirements of the cell. The best known filamentous components of cytoskeleton are: microfilaments (made from actin protein), microtubules (made from tubulin protein) and intermediate filaments.

Due to its supportive role, the Cytoskeleton in LaB. World, are used as metaphors of Immortality.
